REGIONAL COOPERATION CONFERENCE HELD IN TASHKENT
The Conference was attended by member states of Regional Economic Cooperation program in Central Asia, delegations of Azerbaijan, People’s Republic of China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of Islamic Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, IMF and WB.
Azerbaijan was represented by Deputy Director of international economic cooperation department of Ministry for Economic Development Elshan Mammazade, head of transport policy and economy department of the Ministry of Transport Faig Alakbarov and head of the economic regulation department of Ministry of Energy Ilgar Seyfullayev.
In their speeches, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov, President of Asian Development Bank Tadao Chino and others stated that this conference is a good example for expansion of regional cooperation.
Changes taken place after the first conference in Manila, in 2000, regional cooperation, and reinforcement of donor activity will be discussed at the arrangement. Energy sphere and problems of development of trade on the regional level was also in the focus.
Head of the Azerbaijan delegation Elshan Mamadzade dwelt on economic situation in Azerbaijan, privatization, relations with the international institutions, including cooperation with Asian Development Bank and some other issues.
Conference participants adopted a joint declaration.
