REPAIRS COMPLETED ON SECOND POWER UNIT AT AZERBAIJANI POWER STATION
Earlier major repairs had been carried out on the 8th energy unit at the Azerbaijani power station (AzGRES), now maintenance work was being done on the 3rd energy power unit. This will be followed by repair work on the 5th power-generating unit, which will allow increasing its output by 15-20 MW.
In general the power station has fulfilled about 80% of the volume of repair and maintenance work in preparation for the winter.
According to the view of the specialists of AzGRES, this maintenance and repair work will help increase output to the record levels of 2015 MW since the last decade.
The construction of AzGRES was started in 1974 on the upper Garabah Canal near Mingyachevir (400 km away from Baku). Project capacity of the power station consisting of 8 units (producing 300 MW each) is 2400 MW. This power station accounts for over 50% of all the electrical energy generated in the country. This power station uses natural gas as fuel.
