“Russian Joint Stock Company Single Energy Systems” shows serious interest in normal and long-term cooperation with Azerbaijan. “We have had trade links so far, i.e. export of electric power to Azerbaijan, and it is developing quite well. However, there is a need to forge ahead, and we have certain plans in this respect but the time has not yet come to tell about that,” Chairman of the RJSC SES’s Board Anatoliy Chubays told AzerTAj correspondent at the press-conference “Energy Integration of CIS countries: Experience and Prospects”, held on September 17 in the ITAR-TASS agency.

A. Chubays stated as well the main purpose is to restore single energy area within CIS and today, all CIS countries including Azerbaijan are involved in this process. According to him, the SES plans to enhance the export volume of electric energy, expand the trade, synchronize operating-technological tasks and acquire assets abroad. A. Chubays stated that SES was one of the biggest shareholders of energy systems in the post-soviet area and kept investing this sphere to most CIS countries. A. Chubays cited agreements with Georgia as an example and hoped to gain an access to Turkish market through Georgia.
