Dublin, December 13, AZERTAC
Shane Tiernan, Chief Executive of Roscommon County Council, emphasized the importance of strengthening Azerbaijan's relations with Ireland in an interview with AZERTAC. He commended the potential for collaboration between the two countries in economic, social, and cultural sectors.
Describing Roscommon as a modest county in the center of Ireland with a population of approximately 70,000 people, Shane Tiernan highlighted the contributions of Terry Leyden, Azerbaijan's first Honorary Consul in Ireland, who hails from this region. He noted that Terry Leyden represented the people of Roscommon with dignity in the Irish Parliament.
Expressing optimism about Terry Leyden’s role in further developing relations between the two countries, Shane Tiernan emphasized, "For a small region like Roscommon, this presents new opportunities for cooperation."
Tiernan also stressed the significance of enhancing economic and social relations between Azerbaijan and Ireland. He believes that collaboration between the two nations offers substantial potential for both economic growth and the deepening of cultural ties between their peoples.
