RUSSIAN FM LAVROV VISITS BAKU STATE UNIVERSITY
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited the Baku State University Tuesday as part of his trip to Azerbaijan’s capital.
During his meeting with the University’s teaching staff and students, Minister Lavrov said Russia and Azerbaijan have good foundations for bilateral cooperation, adding they were laid by late President Heydar Aliyev and President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian FM said a good neighborly dialogue between the two countries is developing, as both countries’ leaders deeply trust each other.
Sergey Lavrov said that today Russia and Azerbaijan strengthen not only their political and economic relations, but also enhance their humanitarian cooperation.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh, the Russian FM said his country wants a quick resolution to the dispute.
As a country co-chairing the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia will continue meditating between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mr. Lavrov said.
