Saudi Ambassador to Azerbaijan visits AzerTAc
Baku, October 2 (AZERTAC). Saudi Arabia`s Ambassador in Baku Musaid bin Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al-Salim has today visited Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC) to meet Director General Aslan Aslanov.
They discussed cooperation between AZERTAC and Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the national news agency of Saudi Arabia.
AZERTAC`s chief referred to a cooperation agreement on exchange of information that the agencies were going to sign soon. Mr Aslanov pointed out that the national news agencies played a special role in development of Azerbaijan-Saudi Arabia relations.
Mr Aslanov highlighted AZERTAC`s history, achievements and the agency`s role in provision of state information policy.
With respect to agency`s international accomplishments, the Director General said that he was elected, for the third time, a member of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) and its vice-president at the organization`s General Assembly in Moscow. Mr Aslanov added that the majority of members of the organization voted for AZERTAC as the agency was bidding to host the next General Assembly in Baku in 2016. “AZERTAC will chair OANA in 2016-2019,” Mr Aslanov said.
He praised support of heads of Arab news agencies, including SPA`s Director General Abdullah bin Fahd al Hussein, during secret ballot.
The Director General said he would attend the World Congress of News Agencies to be held in Ar-Riyadh on November 17-21, and meet there Abdullah bin Fahd al Hussein to discuss final details of the cooperation agreement between AZERTAC and SPA.
Ambassador Al-Salim stressed the importance of developing Azerbaijan-Saudi Arabia relationship in all areas, including information.
The diplomat said the cooperation agreement to be inked between the national news agencies would make a contribution to further bolstering the bilateral ties.
