SILK ROAD CYCLING TRIP PARTICIPANTS REACH BAKU
A team of 45 cyclists from 9 countries entered Baku on Saturday as part of ``The Silk Road Bicycle Trip`` project.
The cyclists set out from Istanbul for Georgia in early August, and then rode to Azerbaijan.
In Baku, they were welcomed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism official Mahir Gahramanov and vice president of Azerbaijan Cycling Federation Aladdin Shabanov.
We are amazed by Azerbaijan`s hospitality, said Henry Gold, head of the project, which is led by the Canadian Tour d`Afrique Ltd.
During their 2-day stay in the Azeri capital, the cyclists will view its historic and cultural monuments.
On Monday, the team will move on to Turkmenistan and then to Tajikistan.
The trip will finish in Beijing on November 18.
