In Pakistan, terrorists killed several people and torched many vehicles in Balochistan province. Officials said on Thursday that suspected terrorists blocked the highway in the coastal district Gwadar, killing at least six people and torching many vehicles loaded with goods.
The passengers were killed in a brutal attack on a Karachi-bound bus in Gwadar's Kalmat area in the Balochistan province late last night. Five people died on the spot and one succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a hospital. All the killed passengers were travelling to Karachi in the ill-fated bus.
According to the initial reports, police officials have confirmed the killing of five people by terrorists who blocked the highway. Three trailers, carrying urea for Afghanistan from Gwadar port were set on fire in the area. Gunmen also blocked roads in Turbat, Panjgur, Pasni and Mastung areas in Balochistan.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have strongly condemned the killing of passengers in a firing incident in Gwadar area of Balochistan. The President said terrorists are the enemies of the country’s development and prosperity of Balochistan.
The Prime Minister, while condemning the Gwadar attack on passengers, expressed sorrow and grief over the loss of lives and directed relevant authorities to probe the attack and bring those responsible to justice. He praised the security forces and law enforcement agencies for thwarting the nefarious designs of the anti-state elements.
The Prime Minister also directed the authorities concerned to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured people and investigate the incident to identify and punish the perpetrators.
