SOCAR PRESIDENT MEETS BRITISH ENVOY
President of Azerbaijan`s state oil company, SOCAR, Rovnag Abdullayev, met with British Ambassador in Baku Mrs. Caroline Brown and Commercial and Energy Secretary at the Embassy Matt Sutherland.
Abdullayev said Azerbaijan and Great Britain have friendly relations.
The SOCAR President stressed British BP company`s role in developing Azerbaijan`s oil strategy, which he said was initiated by late President Heydar Aliyev.
Rovnag Abdullayev spoke of SOCAR`s efforts towards being among leading world oil companies.
He said Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to join the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.
The SOCAR chief stressed Azerbaijan`s role in providing energy security in Europe.
Caroline Brown said Azerbaijan`s economy has rapidly developed for the past few years.
The Ambassador said the European Union regards Azerbaijan as a reliable energy supplier.
Brown said British energy minister will soon pay a visit to Azerbaijan.
