SOCAR PRESIDENT MEETS ROMANIAN DELEGATION

President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev met with the visiting Romanian delegation led by the Deputy Chairman of NATO PA Mikhail Lupoi, SOCAR said.

Mr. Abdullayev updated the guests on the success achieved in the oil and gas industry of Azerbaijan. He underlined that Azerbaijan has opened the energy corridor to the Europe, which plays an important role in supplying the energy carriers.

Mr. Lupoi, in his turn, emphasized that the relations between the NATO and Azerbaijan become stronger in a short period of time. He noted that the energy projects being implemented in Azerbaijan have an important significance in the view of the energy safety of Europe. He underlined that Romania keens high interest in implementation of these projects.

Director General of the Romania’s "Rompetrol" Luciana Buda pointed out that his company intends to take part in the projects on development of the hydrocarbon resources of Azerbaijan. The processing plants of the “Rompetrol” buy “Azeri Light” oil. But the company wants to sign with SOCAR the long-term agreement for purchase of Azerbaijan oil in a large volume, said Mr Buda.

President of SOCAR underscored that favorable conditions for the foreign companies’ activities have been created in Azerbaijan.
