Speaker of Milli Majlis: Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations are developing steadily

“Thanks to the political will of our heads of state, Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations, built on strong friendship and fraternity, are developing day by day and have already reached the level of allied relations in a short period of time,” said Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis, during a joint press statement with Tanzila Narbayeva, Speaker of the Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis, at the First Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Inter-parliamentary Forum.
Sahiba Gafarova expressed her confidence in the successful organization of the first forum, and that the discussions will positively impact bilateral cooperation. She underlined that the First Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Inter-parliamentary Forum reflects the high level of relations between the two peoples and countries.
The speaker of Milli Majlis also expressed her confidence that the first inter-parliamentary forum held today will also contribute to the further deepening cooperation. Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that this forum provides an opportunity to foster coordination between the parliamentary committees, essential for strengthening and improving the legislative framework, and to exchange experience in legislative activities.
She also stressed the importance of the relevant documents signed between the legislative bodies of the two countries, adding that they will elevate relations between the parliaments to a qualitatively new level.
“The Inter-Parliamentary Commission will operate on a permanent basis and provide an opportunity to more effectively implement upcoming plans and further deepen cooperation,” Gafarova added.
