As reported, the parliamentary delegation led by Speaker of Milli Majlis Oqtay Asadov has visited Ukrainian capital, Kiev, September 27, to attend the events marking the 65th anniversary of the Babi Yar tragedy.

The international “Babi Yar” forum commemorating the victims of the tragedy has adopted a Declaration that expressed readiness to retain in memory the “Babi Yar” tragedy and upheld the initiative to conduct the next forum in Berlin in 2006.

Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament Ogtay Asadov, ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine, chairman of the Congress of Azerbaijanis of Ukraine (CAU) Akif Gulmammadov took part at the Forum.

The same day, Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation laid wreath on the monument to the nationwide leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev at the square in front of the Azerbaijan Embassy in Kiev.

Afterwards, the embassy officials met with activists of CAU. Head of the Azeri Parliament spoke of significance of the consolidation of nation, the cohesion of Azeri Diaspora and widening its activity.

Speaking at the meeting, the director general of the LUKoil Company in Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus Firuz Isayev, head of the CAU Akif Gulmammadov, deputy of Pecher region of Kiev Vilayat Guliyev, businessman Ogtay Efendiyev, head of the Dnepropetrovsk regional organization of CAU Gudret Hajiyev and others expressed gratitude to leadership of Azerbaijan for attention to the problems of Diaspora. They expressed readiness to further make efforts for prosperity of Motherland.

The same day, Speaker of Milli Majlis returned home.
