“The sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan must be respected”
Baku, September 5 (AZERTAC). Replying to a survey from The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS), Ramona Manescu MEP, ALDE Party Vice-President (Liberal Party of Europe), expressed her opinion on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh that EU calls for fair resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in accordance with agreed principles. According to her “for the countries in the region to be able to realize their social and economic potential they need, first of all, to be secure and at peace with their neighbors.”
Manescu underlined that there is an urgent need for a strong commitment to helping the parties involved in the conflict to reach a peaceful solution, to stop all the violence’s and any military interventions in order to be able to build up a lasting cooperation and regional development.
She also said: “As a Member of the European Parliament and ALDE Party Vice-president, I do believe that the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan must be respected as well as the rights of the refugees to return to their homes and their rights to property and personal security.”
“The EU supports the international mediation efforts through the OSCE Minsk Group and stands ready to play its part for a lasting and peaceful settlement.
Within the Eastern Partnership we could further develop the process of economic integration and political cooperation between South Caucasus countries and the European Union."
