THIRD AZERBAIJAN INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF TOURISM AND TRAVEL OPENED IN BAKU

Third Azerbaijan International Exhibition of Tourism and Travel opined in Baku at the Heydar Aliyev Sports-Concert Complex on 8 April.

Organizer of the event is the British exhibition company ITE Group Plc and its exclusive partner on the Caucasus, Company Iteca Caspian, and official support to the exhibition is rendered also by the World Tourist Organization, the Union of Development of the Tourist Industry of Azerbaijan and Commercial and Industrial Chamber of Azerbaijan.

More than 70 companies from 18 countries of the world attend the event. Alongside with the commercial organizations, at the exhibition, have stands the corresponding ministries of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Ukraine, Dagestan, Austria and Egypt. According to director of the Iteca Caspian, the general area of the exposition has increased for 55 percent.

The companies from France, Egypt, Italy, Turkey, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Malta and Switzerland will accept the most active participation in AITF 2004, and representatives of Seychelles and Thailand have arrived on the exhibition for the first time.

Speaking at the ceremony of opening, minister of youth, sports and tourism Abulfaz Garyev noted that number of the participant companies increased current year. Regions of Azerbaijan are also widely represented in the Exhibition. This is evidence to attention and care by the leadership of the country to economic development of the regions, creation of tourist infrastructure of world level. He expressed gratitude to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for care and the leadership of the World Tourist Organization for support of the initiative to conduct the Show.

Then, at the ceremony, speaking was the Luigi Cabrini, Regional Representative for Europe, WTO, who noted essential role of Azerbaijan in the global project for restoration of the Silk Road.

After the opening ceremony, the guests - ambassadors of a number of countries accredited in Baku - toured the Exhibition, viewed the stands.
