Three policemen killed, 5 injured in terrorist attack in Pakistan

In Pakistan, three policemen were killed and five others injured in a terrorist attack on a checkpoint on Thursday. The law enforcement agencies launched a search operation in the area to nab the terrorists involved in the deadly attack.
According to reports, the attack took place country’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province at the Bahadur Khel police checkpoint in Karak district. As per media reports, two police officers got martyred on the spot and six others were injured.
The District Police Officer told the media that the terrorists launched the attack using heavy arms and fled the scene after police retaliated with gunfire. Soon after the attack, the injured policemen were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, where one of the seriously injured police personnel succumbed to his injuries.
Three injured policemen have been referred to provincial capital Peshawar and their condition is stated to be in critical. According to a statement from the Police, “Unknown terrorists opened fire from at a check-post, targeting police personnel using light and heavy weapons in an attempt to capture the check-post.” However, Policemen present at the check-post fired back in an encounter which lasted two hours, following which the terrorists fled, the statement said.
