TRANSPORT MINISTER SPEAKS AT BSEC MINISTERIAL MEETING IN ISTANBUL

In his speech at a meeting of the Transport Ministers of the members-states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation organization (BSEC) held at Istanbul’s Marmara Hotel on Thursday, Azerbaijan’s Minister Ziya Mammadov put special emphasis on the importance of the Azerbaijan-initiated large-scale regional transport projects including the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad and development of marine transport in the Caspian Sea. He noted Azerbaijan was going to contribute to the BSEC’s Black Sea Ring Highway project, as well.

The Minister expressed regret at the fact that the 220-kilometer long railroad as well as the 3000-kilometer long motorway remains useless because of Armenia’s non-constructive position on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

On the sidelines of the event, Z. Mammadaov had bilateral meetings with a number of his foreign counterparts.
