TRANSPORTATION OF CASPIAN OIL TO EUROPE DISCUSSED IN TBILISI
Energy ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland discussed the question of transportation of the Caspian crude to the European markets, 26 September.
The goal of the visit, as Azeri Energy Minister Natig Alyev commented, is to discuss fulfillment of tasks put before the appropriate structures at the Krakow Summit of the heads of state on energy safety on 10-11 May current year.
One of the tasks is to jointly discuss transportation of the Caspian crude to the Central and Eastern Europe. The energy ministers had also to consider economic effectiveness of that project. As known, Ukraine and Poland have created a joint company. The above-mentioned Summit of the heads of state recommended the working groups to consider expediency of creation of a company, or an organization of the 5 countries as well. Now, we discuss and analyze results of the previously conducted meetings on this purpose, Natig Aliyev emphasized. The point is that Azerbaijan is satisfied with the creation of new “Sarmatia” Company in large format. And we would have the economic analysis of this project, he concluded.
Second Energy Summit of the heads of state is due on 10 October in Lithuania. The energy ministers had to prepare and submit to the heads of state proposals to be discussed at the Summit.
