TURKEY TAKES LEAD OF AFGHAN PEACEKEEPERS
Turkey has taken over command of the International Security Assistance Force, Isaf, in Afghanistan, Turkish Embassy in Baku said.
Turkey assumed command from France, and will lead the peacekeeping mission until December.
The Turkish Embassy said the country plans to increase its troops to 1,200 during its command.
The International Security Assistance Force will be led by Turkish Mayor General Kasim Erdem.
Azerbaijan troops have been involved in NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan since 2002.
