TURKISH FM URGES ARMENIAN COUNTERPART TO FREE OCCUPIED AZERBAIJANI LANDS
During his meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian in Istanbul, Turkey`s FM Abdullah Gul urged him to liberate occupied Azerbaijani territories.
Gul said it will help find solutions to problems between Armenia and Turkey.
According to some Turkish media reports, during the closed-door conversation, Oskanian demanded that Turkey open its borders to Armenia, but Abdullah Gul said Armenia should make efforts towards solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict first.
Gul also stressed Ankara offered setting up a special commission consisting of historians to deal with Armenia`s fabricated genocide claims.
Following the meeting, Oskanian gave a press conference where he expressed dissatisfaction with Turkey`s stance.
The Minister said Armenian President Robert Kocharyan refused to attend the summit of the Black Sea Economic cooperation Organization in Istanbul as there are no diplomatic relations between the two countries.
