UN SC TO DISCUSS KOSOVO PROBLEM
Russia will convene a meeting of the UN Security Council on Kosovo question on March 11 at Serbia’s request, Press Secretary of the Russian Permanent Representation to the UN said.
Kosovo’s Parliament on February 17 adopted a declaration on independence from Serbia.
Though the USA and several European countries recognized the unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo, Russia assessed the act as violation of the norms of international law.
Foreign Minister of Serbia Vuk Yeremich recently had talks with Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vitaly Churkin on Kosovo question in New-York.
“Russia’s stance is unchanged and based on norms of international law”, said Serbian Minister after the meeting.
Saying that official Serbia’s acts are lawful, V. Yeremich called on the international community not to allow deploying EU mission in Kosovo.
