US AND POLAND SIGN MISSILE AGREEMENT
The United States and Poland have signed a deal to deploy American missile defense system on Polish soil.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was in Warsaw to sign the deal with her Polish counterpart.
Ms Rice said the signing of the document was an extraordinary occasion, adding that the agreement would help NATO, Poland and the US respond to "the threats of the 21st Century".
The United States is to place up to 10 interceptor missiles in Poland by 2013. The deployment is part of a broader missile shield that includes a radar facility in the Czech Republic, alongside facilities in place in the United States, Greenland and Britain.
The agreement must now be ratified by Poland`s parliament.
