Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s 140th anniversary celebrated with concert in Ukraine

The 140th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, founder of Azerbaijani national music and author of the first opera in the East, was celebrated with a concert program in Kryvyy Rih, Dnipropetrovsk oblast of Ukraine.
The event brought together the leadership of the mayor’s Department of Culture, MPs, diaspora activists, as well as public and media representatives.
Prior to the concert, organized by the Rada of Azerbaijanis of Ukraine in Kryvyy Rih, participants viewed an exhibition of Azerbaijani paintings.
Opening with the performance of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Ukraine, the event featured remarks from Kamaladdin Aghayev, head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Kryvyy Rih. He emphasized that celebrating Hajibeyli’s 140th anniversary in Kryvyy Rih, one of the cities most affected by air strikes, helps promote Azerbaijan’s national music.
Irina Vasilyevna, head of the Cultural Department of Kryvyy Rih City Hall, and Hafiz Aslanov, chairman of the Muslim Magomayev International Foundation, also spoke at the event, highlighting Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s exceptional role in shaping Azerbaijan’s national musical identity.
