VATICAN SECRETARY OF STATE VISITS HEYDAR ALIYEV FOUNDATION
Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone and his accompanying delegation visited Friday the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The delegation members were briefed on the Foundation`s objectives, and items taken from the national leader`s personal archive. The main goal of the Foundation is to study and popularize Heydar Aliyev`s rich heritage, give an idea to future generations and foreign visitors about his large-scale activity to achieve Azerbaijan`s socio-economic, cultural progress, and assist projects that popularize the history and culture of Azerbaijan.
Bertone and members of the delegation got familiarized with the documents reflecting the life of great leader Heydar Aliyev and the history of Azerbaijan.

Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP, met with Tarcisio Bertone, Vatican Secretary of State.
President of the Foundation congratulated Bertone on official opening of the Catholic Church.
M. Aliyeva described opening of the church as the landmark event, saying Azerbaijan is widely considered as the example of tolerant country. Opening of the Catholic Church is an indicator of the tolerance. Mrs. Aliyeva said people of different religions have lived in friendship for centuries. There is no discrimination on the grounds of religion, language, nationality and race in Azerbaijan.
Bertone hailed tolerance he witnessed in Azerbaijan. He also praised Azerbaijan nation`s attitude towards other peoples and religions. Noting that the tolerance is the part of the mentality of the Azerbaijan people, he said this point is clearly seen in the activity of the Azerbaijani Leader.
