VISIT OF AKAYEV TO KAZAKHSTAN ENDED
President Askar Akayev has visited Kazakhstan. At his meeting with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, discussed were issues of expansion of political, economic and cultural cooperation, raise goods turnover between the two countries and others. The presidents signed agreement on alliance relations between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. This agreement will cover two significant spheres: joint combat against extremism and terrorism, integration of economy of both countries.
Responding the question “Is it the analogue of the Russian-Belarus union?” Askar Akayev answered: “There is such an idea and we can build this union in other way”.
Meanwhile, Nazarbayev said: “For the future of our peoples we are establishing close relations, I think, we have made a step forward”.
In addition to the Astana Agreement, signed was the agreement on international highway, protocols on setting favorable conditions for realization of Kazakh goods in Kyrgyzstan and the Kyrgyz goods in Kazakhstan, joint usage of the gas pipelines at the territories of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, on recognition of property rights of Kazakhstan at the territory of Kyrgyzstan, achieved an agreement on control-checking points at the borders.
