World Bank keen on cooperation with Azerbaijan Railways
Baku, January 26, AZERTAC
Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY), one of the companies under AZCON Holding, met with a delegation led by Charles Cormier, Infrastructure Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia at the World Bank (WB).
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state of cooperation between ADY and the World Bank, the importance of expanding relations, the World Bank’s participation in the second phase of the Baku International Sea Trade Port, technical support for ongoing projects, and investment opportunities.
Chairman Rovshan Rustamov emphasized that the integration of the Baku International Sea Trade Port into ADY played a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of international transportation last year. He noted that in 2025, the Baku Port handled a record volume of container cargo—more than 107,000 TEU, representing a 40 percent increase compared to 2024.
Charles Cormier underscored the World Bank’s strong interest in further strengthening cooperation with ADY, noting that the progress achieved by Azerbaijan Railways in the development of the Middle Corridor opens up new opportunities for future partnership.
