WORLD CONGRESS OF NEWS AGENCIES IN MOSCOW
Azerbaijan at this event is represented by Director General of AzerTAj Mr. Aslan Aslanov and translator-editor Mr. Nazim Khidirov.
The forum was addressed by President of Russia Mr. Vladimir Putin.
“We are seeking to make information accessible anytime and anyplace,” he said. The President noted as well that is was not accidental that the UN, UNESCO, and other international forums always keep the problem of information imbalances in the focus of attention.
Touching upon the new threats of the XXI century, Mr. Putin called on the mass media to be an effective tool in struggle against terror “trying to avoid even involuntary assistance to terrorists”.
The Russian President also answered the questions from the forum participants.
Director General of the Russian State News Agency ITAR-TASS Vitaliy Ignatenko noted in his address that the Congress would make an important contribution to strengthening of interaction among the news agencies, and would define new approaches to joint resolution of the problems of global information space.
The Participants also discussed the topical problems of modern journalism including the struggle for freedom of speech, protection of copyright, improvement of the process of information collection and dissemination, and informational terrorism.
