Marked worldwide on April 7, the World Health Day conducted under the motto “Road Safety Depends on Us” deals with pedestrian accidents this year. By estimation, 140 people become victims of road accidents every year, World Health Organization /WHO/ office in Baku reported. Above three thousand of them die while about 15 thousand get disabled. Thus, estimated 1,18 million people perished from road accidents last year, 50 million were injured while about 5 million got disabled. If the tendency remains the same the rate of deaths and disablement will increase up to 80 percent in 2020.

To fight these challenges, WHO recommends to use safety belts, limit speed, toughen control over drunk driving etc.
