YURI MERZLYAKOV’S POSITION DOES NOT COINCIDE WITH RUSSIA’S OFFICIAL STANCE
The Minister said Merzlyakov’s statement fully contradicts to the role and functions of mediator. Azerbaijan rejects this statement and if there is found evidence for such statement, then, we shall demand to bring him to responsibility. Such statement is provocation especially on the eve of the Presidents’ proposed meeting. We estimate it as a provocative and irresponsible step, Araz Azimov stressed.
Noting that Merzlyakov’s position does not coincide with the official stance of Russia, Mr. Azimov said Russia has many times stated its position in regard with Nagorno Karabakh at highest level. Official Moscow’s position in this question consists in recognition of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, he underscored.
