22nd meeting of GUAM Council of FMs held in Kyiv
Baku, December 6 (AZERTAC). The 22nd meeting of the GUAM Council of Foreign Ministers has today been held in Kiev.
The meeting was attended by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maia Panjikidze, Moldovan Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman, as well as Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara and GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili.
The meeting featured discussions on economic and commercial ties, as well as mutual political activity among GUAM member states and cooperation within GUAM+ format.
The Foreign ministers talked over the protracted conflicts in the GUAM region and their impact on international peace, security and development.
A special attention was paid to the outcome of the Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of GUAM member states shared their views, noting that the EU-GUAM model of cooperation could pursue the purpose of promotion of the European values and standards of cooperation beyond the existing EU borders.
The sectoral cooperation, particularly combating organized crime, developing economic, trade and energy cooperation were among the main topics of the meeting.
Moldova took over the chairmanship of the GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Development for 2014.
