28 May - Azerbaijan`s Republic Day marked abroad
Baku, May 2 (AZERTAC). The 94th anniversary of the establishment of Azerbaijani Democratic Republic was celebrated in foreign countries.
Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles has organized an event in San Diego, CA, on occasion of 28 May- the Republic Day.
Speaking at the event, Consul General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles Nasimi Agayev updated participants on the history of 28 May- the Republic Day, Azerbaijan`s achievements and rapidly development of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan-US relationship.
In his part, San Diego Mayor congratulated Azerbaijani government and people on behalf of San Diego Municipality on the Republic Day.
May 31was announced “Azerbaijan`s National Day” in San Diego which is the second largest city in California. Before, the Nasimi district in Baku and Switzer Highland in San Diego were declared twin regions for the first time in history on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of restoration of Azerbaijan’s independence.

Azerbaijani Embassy in Uzbekistan has organized a celebrative event dedicated to the 94th anniversary of Azerbaijani Democratic Republic at the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center with the participation of Azerbaijani students studying in Tashkent higher institutions.
As whole, the event brought together 170 students from 16 higher institutions.
First, the participants of the event visited monument of National leader Heydar Aliyev and put a wreath and flowers on footing.
Speaking at the event, Azerbaijani ambassador Namig Abbasov provided information on the history and activity of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
Ambassador Hasan Mammadzade spoke about establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), the first democratic republic in the Muslim East, as well as the founding of the modern and independent Azerbaijani state.
The ceremony also featured concert and demonstration of videos on Eurovision 2012 and must-see-places of Baku.
The event participants were handed over brochures on Azerbaijan`s rapid developing economy and 28May- Republic Day.

Azerbaijani Embassy in Mexico has organized an official reception marking 28 May- the Republic Day. The event also marked the 20th years of establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Mexico.
Mexico officials, members of congress, representatives of diplomatic corps in Mexico, Azerbaijanis living there, members of the Ukraine and Jews communities, representatives of nongovernmental organizations and others participated at the event.
Participators were informed on 28 May- the Republic Day of Azerbaijan, the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict by Azerbaijani ambassador to Mexico Ilgar Mukhtarov. The envoy said that Azerbaijan has ancient statehood traditions and the first democratic republic in the East was established here. He said it was national leader Heydar Aliyev`s huge experience and wise policy that saved Azerbaijan when it was on the verge of collapse.
Mukhtarov underlined “the successful continuation of this policy by President Ilham Aliyev has ensured systematic and complex development of Azerbaijan”.
The Mexican Foreign Ministry's Director General for Europe Jose Ignacio Madrazo highly praised the contribution of the Azerbaijani embassy, first opened in Mexico among Latin American countries, in development of the bilateral relations between the two countries. It was also stated that the meetings held between Azerbaijani and Mexican foreign ministers, organized mutual high level visits and signed documents contributed to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
Mexican minister expressed hope for further deepening of relations and cooperation.
The event demonstrated Azerbaijani music and video on the country`s tourism and cultural opportunities.
The attendees of the event were presented books and journals about the country.
Azerbaijani tastes and meals were served at the ceremony.

Canadian Senator Salma Ataullahjan has signed a statement on the announcement of 28 May as Azerbaijan`s National Holiday-The Republic Day in Canada.
According to Azerbaijani embassy to Canada, the statement emphases proclaimed on May 28, 1918 Azerbaijan’s People Republic and as the first Muslim country which gives women the right to elect and be elected.
The statement also says “the first gymnasium for girls was established in Azerbaijan in 1901 and in 1991- Azerbaijan gained the independence”.
