40th session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers held in Guinea
Baku, December 14 (AZERTAC). An Azerbaijani delegation led by Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov attended the 40th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation titled "Dialogue of civilizations: factor of peace and sustainable development" held in Conakry, Guinea on December 9-11.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the dialogue among civilizations in the modern world.
The Minister highlighted the issues of expanding bilateral cooperation among the CIS member states, as well as the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan and the results of the dispute.
According to the Conakry Declaration adopted by the 40th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC called for the immediate withdrawal of the Armenian forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan “condemning the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan”.
The Conakry Declaration also welcomed the decision adopted by the Conference of OIC Ministers of Labour, held in Baku, on 25 and 26 April, 2013, relating to the establishment of the OIC Centre for Labour proposed by President Ilham Aliyev and also welcomed the initiative taken by the country for hosting the Centre. The Declaration also noted: “We positively welcome the 5th Session of the Ministerial Conference on the Role of Women in the Development of OIC Member States that will be held in November, 2014, in Azerbaijan and call upon all Member States to actively participate in that Conference.”
The 40th session of Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC also adopted Resolutions on Political Affairs including the resolutions on the Aggression of the Republic of Armenia against the Republic of Azerbaijan in which the Council strongly condemns any looting and destruction of the archaeological, cultural and religious monuments in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. The resolution also has a special article dealing with the "Justice for Khojaly" campaign initiated by the OIC Youth Forum which was adopted by the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC.
