4th World Congress of News Agencies wraps up in Riyadh
Riyadh, November 21 (AZERTAC). The official part of the fourth world congress of news agencies, which brought together heads of over 70 reputable news agencies, OANA, EANA, FANA, IINA news alliances, Sky News Arabia, Los-Angeles Times, Guardian, BBC and famous MSN, Google, YAHOO internet corporations has wrapped up here.
The final session of the world congress saw presentations of news editors working for the Arabic-language TV channels and capacity of news agencies to meet the needs of newspapers.
Speaking at the panel session moderated by Farid Ayar, Secretary General, FANA, Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Haza, CEO Chief Broadcast & TV in Saudi Arabia, Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Rashid, Director and Editor-in-Chief, Al-Arabia, Mr. Behrouz Afagh, Head of BBC World Service`s Asia Pacific Region, Bib Persian & Arabic services, Mr Nart Bouran, Director of Sky News Arabia noted that news agencies are the main source of news for TV channels, and underlined transparency, objectivity as main criteria in news production.
The panel session “capitalizing on new opportunities” was moderated by Clive Marshall, CEO Press Association Group. Panelists highlighted the importance of new technology usage in the news production in particular application of new software.
The final session moderated by EANA President Peter Kropsch looked into relationship between news agencies and print media and the need for print media to switch to online versions.
Abdulla Bin Fahad Al Hussain, President of Saudi Press Agency, President of the IV News Agencies World Congress, presented the Riyad Declaration and announced that the 2016 world congress would be held in Baku and AZERTAC will be a president in the 2016-2019.
Speaking to the session, AZERTAC Director General Aslan Aslanov thanked the participants for accepting AZERTAC`s bid and supporting AZERTAC on this matter. According to Aslanov, this is an indicator of respect to the increasing prestige of Azerbaijan. In addition, I consider this as the appreciation of the work done by Azerbaijan`s national news agency and confidence in AZERTAC`s perfect organization of this 2016 international event. He assured the congress that Azerbaijan, which successfully hosted a variety of international events, will organize this prestigious event excellently too.
