Baku, October 19 (AZERTAC). A solemn swearing-in ceremony of President-elect of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was held at the Milli Majlis on October 19.

The ceremony was attended by Azerbaijani state and government officials, parliamentarians, and members of the President`s family.

The swearing-in ceremony of Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev elected as the President of the Azerbaijan Republic in the nationwide vote was announced open.

President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev was greeted with a long round of stormy applause.

Soldiers of the Armed Forces brought the national flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the standard of the Azerbaijani President onto the stage. Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Azerbaijan Republic Farhad Abdullayev and judges of the Constitutional Court were invited onto the stage.

Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Azerbaijan Republic Farhad Abdullayev said:

“Ladies and gentlemen,

The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan adopted a decision on October 19, 2013, to approve the results of the Central Election Commission concerning the election of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and announced Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev as the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Under the Article 103 of the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic,

President-elect of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev is invited for swearing-in ceremony in the presence of the judges of the Constitutional Court.”

President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev put his hand on the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and swore: “I do solemnly swear to abide by the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan while executing the powers of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, protect state independence and territorial integrity, and serve the people faithfully.”

The state anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed.

The President then put his hand on the Holy Quran and swore:

“I put my hand on the Holy Quran and solemnly swear to remain loyal to and value national and moral values and traditions that have been created by the people of Azerbaijan for centuries.”

President Ilham Aliyev dropped to one knee to kiss the national flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan`s national flag and the standard of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic were taken out of the stage. 

President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev made an inaugural speech at the ceremony.
