President Ilham Aliyev attends opening of Arpachay-1 and Arpachay-2 hydro-electric power stations in Nakhchivan VIDEO
Nakhchivan, April 7 (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has taken part in the opening of Arpachay-1 and Arpachay-2 hydro-electric power stations in the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan.
President Ilham Aliyev viewed Arpachay-2 hydro-electric power station. The Head of State was informed that 1.4MW hydro-electric power station had a water reservoir with a capacity of 3 mln cubic meters of water. The commissioning of these stations will expand opportunities of energy system of Nakhchivan and also strengthen material and technical basis of energy sector in the Autonomous Republic.
President Ilham Aliyev launched Arpachay-2 hydro-electric power station.
Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov said that the hydro-electric power station, which meets modern standards, would contribute to strengthening energy supply of Nakhchivan.
He stressed that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to finance the construction of Arpachay-2 hydro-electric power station in the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan on March 14, 2014. Under the Order, AZN 4 million was allocated to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan from the President’s Reserve Fund for completion of the construction.
President Ilham Aliyev then attended the commissioning of Arpachay-1 hydro-electric power station.
The Head of State was informed about the capacity of the facility. The 20.5MW hydro-electric power station has a water reservoir containing 150 mln cubic meters of water.
President Ilham Aliyev pushed the start button.
The Azerbaijani leader was informed that the facility would meet main part of energy demand of the Autonomous Republic. Several hydro-electric power stations have been built in Nakhchivan over the past 10 years. The President was told that despite living in blockade, Nakchivan met its domestic energy demands by means of its own potential.
The Head of State met residents of the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan.
President Ilham Aliyev then viewed the 150 million cubic meters water reservoir.
