Baku to host World Economic Forum`s Global Shapers` meeting
Baku, April 5 (AZERTAC). A meeting of the Global Shapers Community of the World Economic Forum (Davos Forum) on “Strategic Dialogue on the Future of the South Caucasus and Central Asia” will be held at the JW Marriott Absheron Hotel in Baku on April 6-7.
According to the Youth Foundation under the President of Azerbaijan, the Global Shapers Community, a major initiative launched by the World Economic Forum to engage young people to deliver local and global change, today reached 200 cities worldwide. It`s hub has been opened in Baku as well.
The meeting to bring together more than 80 South Caucasus and Central Asian young people, including entrepreneurs, scientists working at the state structures, as well as representatives of the international organizations and students, will provide youth with a global platform to shape the future - integrating the personal, community and global dimension.
The event is expected to be addressed by Farhad Hajiyev, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation and Anastasia Kalinina, the senior Community Manager for Global Shapers in Russia and CIS.
The official opening of the World Economic Forum Strategic Dialogue on the Future of the South Caucasus and Central Asia will be held on April 7. Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov and Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva will address the forum.
The forum will serve as a timely and unprecedented opportunity for the region`s current and potential stakeholders to define, assess and take forward some of the promising visions for its future.
The event will be an important platform for regional and global players to assess the challenges and opportunities associated with the future of the region, will contribute to the development of cooperation and integration in the South Caucasus and Central Asian regions.
The young participants of the forum are scheduled to visit Sumgait Technology Park.
The Global Shapers Community is a network of hubs developed and led by young people who are exceptional in their potential, their achievements and their drive to make a contribution to their communities.
Engaged by the World Economic Forum as “active agents of change”, Global Shaper Hubs are developed and led by entrepreneurial “millennials” between 20 and 30 years old. Each Hub is required to undertake a project that positively impacts the local community in which the Hub is located, and to participate in a global conversation with world leaders to shape the future. However, it is united by a common desire to channel the members` tremendous energy and enthusiasm into building a more peaceful and inclusive world.
