Albania, Italy to cooperate on establishing Tumour Institute

Minister of Health and Social Protection Evis Sala, during a visit to the National Cancer Institute in Milan, met with its president Gustavo Galmozzi, according to the Albanian News Agency (ATA).
Health Minister Sala said in a social media post on Thursday that she and Galmozzi discussed cooperation on establishing a Tumour Institute in Albania.
Sala said the talks focused on concrete collaboration to support the creation of the institute as a centre for capacity building, multidisciplinary cancer treatment, scientific research and the development of evidence-based oncology policies.
She said the strategic partnership would be aligned with European standards, with a focus on institutional strengthening and the sustainable development of Albania’s cancer control system.
Albania is taking concrete steps towards modernising oncology services, aiming to meet European standards in the treatment of cancer-related diseases.
Albania and Italy are also set to expand cooperation on capacity building, improving treatment protocols and providing assistance for cases requiring highly specialised care.
