Azerbaijan's National Music Day marked in Brazil

Supported by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Brazil, a concert marking Azerbaijan’s National Music Day was arranged in the capital city of Brasilia. Dignitaries present at the event included officials of the Brazilian Federal District, representatives of diplomatic corps and numerous city communities.
During the concert, symphony orchestra of the Cláudio Santoro National Theater, under the direction of honored artist of Azerbaijan, chief conductor and musical director of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of Azerbaijan, Ayyub Guliyev, performed works by Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Gara Garayev, Fikret Amirov, Ogtay Zulfugarov, Haji Khanmammadov and Hasan Rzayev, as well as famous Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Brazil, Rashad Novruz, highlighted the establishment of the national music day, which is celebrated annually on September 18 in Azerbaijan, saying that September 18 - the day when the genius composer of Azerbaijan Uzeyir Hajibeyli was born.
Prior the concert in capital Brasilia, a concert program marking the National Music Day was organized on September 14 in Belém, the capital city of the state of Para, on the stage of the famous Teatro da Paz.
As part the cultural exchange program between Azerbaijan and Brazil, Brazilian conductors are also slated to perform in Azerbaijan on September 24 and November.
