AZERBAIJAN – MOST TOLERANT COUNTRY THANKS TO HEYDAR ALIYEV, MARGARITA COSTA
Former Italian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mrs. Margarita Costa said Azerbaijan’s successes are connected with the name of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev.
She said after regaining independence Azerbaijan had faced hardships, adding that the civil confrontation, occupation of its territories, as well as provocation of foreign forces had created chaos in the country.
When Heydar Aliyev came to power he saved the Azerbaijani people from all misfortunes. In spite of hardships, thanks to Heydar Aliyev, the “Contract of the Century” was signed, oil consortium was established, ceasefire agreement was achieved in Azerbaijan, said the former Ambassador.
According to her, Azerbaijan is developing and strengthening its position in the world community.
Mrs. Costa also noted due to national leader’s efforts Azerbaijan had become one of the most tolerant country in the world. Favorable conditions created for religious communities, building Catholic Church in Azerbaijan proves the country’s respect for other religions, Mrs. Costa underlined.
