Azerbaijan, Afghanistan discuss prospects for economic ties
Baku, May 20 (AZERTAC). A delegation of the Upper House of the Afghan National Assembly led by head of the parliamentary Commission for External Relations Nisar Ahmad Harris has met members of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s Committee on economic policy.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy Ziyad Samadzade spoke of the fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan.
He noted that Azerbaijan was accepted as most rapidly developing country in the world during last 10 years and said there were important achievements gained in the country’s economic development and great positive changes on all fronts of society.
Ziyad Samadzade noted Azerbaijan turned into the gas exporter from the importer.
He also spoke of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noting that 20 per cent of Azerbaijan’s lands are under the Armenian occupation for more than 20 years.
Head of the Parliamentary Commission for External Relations Nisar Ahmad Harris highlighted the importance of the expanding bilateral ties between the two countries and expressed confidence that high level reciprocal visits would contribute to the strengthening of the current Azerbaijani-Afghan cooperation.
