Azerbaijan, Brazil discuss prospects for relations
Baku, November 2 (AZERTAC). Prospects for Azerbaijan-Brazil relations was the top subject of discussions at a meeting between Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov and member of Brazilian Parliament, chairman of Brazil-Azerbaijan interparliamentary working group Claudio Kajado, who is in Baku to participate in the 3rd International Humanitarian Forum.
Asadov said he was pleased to see the Brazilian MP in the Azerbaijani capital for the second time, adding the official Baku was ready for cooperation with Brazil in all areas. The Speaker hailed the current level of the bilateral relations. Asadov said trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Brazil was USD 183 million three years ago, noting it has grown by 16 percent this year. The Speaker pointed out that the two countries enjoy huge potential to further develop the relationship. He noted Azerbaijani and Brazilian businessmen could play important role to bolster the economic ties, and suggested to organize their reciprocal visits.
Asadov praised the creation of interparliamentary working group as “a significant step” to make contribution to expanding cooperation.
Claudio Kajado said the 3rd Baku International Humanitarian Forum was organized on a high level, noting the event focused on vital issues facing the globe.
The Brazilian MP hailed Azerbaijan`s economic growth, describing it as a guarantee for the political independence.
He said Baku became more beautiful since his first visit to the capital in early this year. The Parliamentarian expressed hope that the relationship between the two countries will reach the level of alliance.
