AZERBAIJAN DEFENSE MINISTER MEETS WITH KYRGYZ COUNTERPART
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense Safar Abiyev met with his Kyrgyz counterpart Ismail Isakov.
Safar Abiyev said Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan are successfully cooperating within the CIS Council of Defense Ministers and NATO’s Partnership for Peace program.
Mr. Abiyev said the two countries should continue cooperating in all spheres, including in the field of strengthening armed forces.
The Azerbaijani Minister informed his Kyrgyz counterpart about the political and military situation in the region.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Mr. Abiyev said Armenia occupied twenty percent of his country’s territory.
Kyrgyz Defense Minister Ismail Isakov said both countries are keen to continue their bilateral cooperation.
“I believe my current visit to Azerbaijan will give the impetus to further enhancement of cooperation between our ministries”, Mr. Isakov said.
