Azerbaijan, Ethiopia enhance investment cooperation

A delegation led by Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), participated in the Invest in Ethiopia 2026 Forum co-organized by Ethiopian Investment Commission and the Ministry of Finance in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The event showcased Ethiopia’s investment opportunities, featuring panel discussions with the participation of government officials and the private sector representatives, as well as signing of the documents on investment projects.
As part of the visit, AZPROMO Executive Director Yusif Abdullayev held meetings at several institutions.
During the meeting with Zeleke Temesgen, Commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC), the sides discussed the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between AZPROMO and the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) during the official visit of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali to Azerbaijan in February of this year.
They also reviewed the prospects for strengthening relations between the two institutions, as well as opportunities for joint initiatives and activities.
Subsequently, AZPROMO Executive Director Yusif Abdullayev met with Aynalem Abayneh Mamo, Vice President of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA).
The sides emphasized the importance of establishing direct ties between entrepreneurs of the two countries and exploring bilateral trade potential. They also exchanged views on the development of trade relations with Ethiopia.
The meeting with Habtamu Tegegne, Ethiopian Minister of Mines and Petroleum, featured discussions on the prospects for joint activities in the mining industry.
At the meeting with Brook Taye, CEO of Ethiopian Investment Holdings, a sovereign wealth fund, AZPROMO Executive Director Yusif Abdullayev provided insight into Azerbaijan’s investment potential.
The parties also exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation, investment partnership, and opportunities for implementing joint initiatives.
