An Azerbaijani delegation led by Azad Jafarli, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Agriculture, visited the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to participate in the "AgriteQ 2026" International Agricultural Exhibition in Doha, and the 3rd Makkah Halal Forum held in Saudi Arabia.
The delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of the "AgriteQ 2026" International Agricultural Exhibition in Doha on February 11-14, as well as presentations and panel discussions highlighting greenhouse technologies, biotechnology, hydroponics, smart irrigation systems, plant protection, agricultural technologies and innovative solutions, held as part of the exhibition.
As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Hamad Hadi Al Hajri, Assistant Director of the Food Security Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment of Qatar. During the meeting, the parties discussed establishing a Joint Working Group to identify specific, actionable areas of cooperation in the agricultural sector, aiming to implement projects in a flexible, efficient manner.
The meeting with executives of Haidari Trading Company and Al Shahabi Trading Company—two of Qatar's leading importers and suppliers of fresh fruits and vegetables—focused on addressing the supply chain and the expansion of import sources.
The delegation then participated in the 3rd Makkah Halal Forum held in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, from February 14-17. At the exhibition launched as part of the forum, Azerbaijan’s agricultural companies showcased their products. Members of the delegation emphasized the important role of the forum in fostering cooperation with Islamic countries in the halal industry, describing it as a unique platform to advance the initiatives in this direction.
Members of Azerbaijan's Agriculture Ministry and the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussed boosting the export of Azerbaijani agricultural products to the Saudi Arabian market.
During both visits, mutual agreements were reached on participation in international exhibitions, increasing trade turnover, strengthening institutional collaboration in the agricultural sector, technological partnership, and implementing joint initiatives.
