Azerbaijan, Iran discuss bilateral relations
Baku, March 13 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan and Iran have discussed different aspects of bilateral relations as FM Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met Iranian deputy FM Ebrahim Rahimpour.
They praised cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran.
They discussed how to further promote economic and trade ties, and exchanged views over realization of transport, humanitarian and cultural programs, as well as expansion of legal framework of cooperation and the issues related to the legal status of the Caspian Sea.
They noted the importance of the meeting between the Azerbaijani and Iranians presidents in Davos in terms of further development of the bilateral cooperation.
Minister Mammadyarov touched upon the forthcoming Trilateral Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey, adding such meetings contribute to furthering the cooperation.
Deputy FM Rahimpour stressed the strategic importance of Azerbaijan, saying that he would also visit Nakhchivan where he will hold bilateral meetings.
Speaking of the aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, Minister Mammadyarov underlined that withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and return of Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons to their historical lands will contribute to the peace process and strengthen peace, stability and security in the region.
