Azerbaijan joins 57th Cairo International Book Fair
Cairo, January 21, AZERTAC
Azerbaijan is participating at the 57th Cairo International Book Fair in Egypt, which opened its doors to readers today.
Running from January 21 to February 3 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC), the fair features participation of 1,457 publishing houses from 83 countries.
This year’s fair presents a rich cultural and intellectual program that reflects its status as one of the region’s most prominent cultural gatherings.
Elkhan Polukhov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Egypt, as well as other employees of embassy were present at the opening ceremony of the fair, which was also attended by executives of numerous Egyptian ministries and representatives of foreign embassies.
The Culture Ministers of Egypt and Romania, as well as other cultural figures, who visited the Azerbaijani national stand showcasing modern publishing products, were informed about the history and culture of the country. The books displayed at national stand will eventually be given as gifts to book lovers.
Held under the slogan “Whoever stops reading for an hour falls centuries behind,” a quote by the late Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz, this year’s edition celebrates reading as a cornerstone of awareness, progress, and human development.
