Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economic Development Heydar Babayev met with Senior Vice President of the Bechtel Corporation Charles Redman and his accompanying delegation.

Heydar Babayev informed the guests about Azerbaijan’s economic progress and regional oil, gas and railway projects his country is involved in.

The Azerbaijani Minister said one of the priorities for the country’s government is to use oil and gas revenues to improve the non-oil sector, and added that establishment of cooperation with Bechtel can be very beneficial.

Charles Redman said the main goal of his visit is to explore in which spheres the Bechtel Corporation can establish cooperation with Azerbaijan.

Mr. Redman said his company has been involved in a number of high profile construction engineering projects, including power projects, refineries, nuclear power plants, rebuilding of civil infrastructure, transport, information and communication technologies projects and others.

Bechtel’s Senior Vice President said this is not his first trip to Azerbaijan, adding much has changed here since his last visit.

Charles Redman stressed it was Azerbaijan’s rapid development that sparked his company’s interest to the country.
