Azerbaijan, New Zealand discuss prospects for cooperation
Baku, December 6 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov has met a delegation led by former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Prime Minister's current special representative for Central Asia, Jim Bolger.
Khalafov underlined the significance of Azerbaijan`s cooperation with countries of the Australia and Oceania region. He also said great potential exists for development of the Azerbaijan-New Zealand cooperation, and stressed the importance of intensifying reciprocal visits between the two countries.
Khalaf Khalafov also gave an insight into the main directions of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy, energy policy, the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its consequences, as well as official Baku`s position on settlement of the dispute.
The Deputy FM spoke about Azerbaijan`s contributions to strengthening international peace and stability as a member of the UN Security Council.
In his turn, Jim Bolger hailed Azerbaijan`s rapid economic development. He said New Zealand was expressed in Azerbaijan`s successful practice as a member of the UN Security Council.
The meeting featured discussions on the ways of expanding bilateral economic and commercial ties, as well as cooperation within international organizations.
