Azerbaijan ranks among Georgia's top five trading partners

Georgia’s foreign trade continues to decline.

According to data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia, the country’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $3.5 billion in January–February 2026, representing a 6.9% decrease compared to the same period in 2025.

During the reporting period, imports totaled $2.5 billion, down 15.4% year-on-year. Exports, however, increased by 22.9% compared to the first two months of the previous year, reaching $1,026.7 million.

Georgia’s negative trade balance stood at $1,459 million, which is 30.6% lower than the figure recorded in the same period last year.

Türkiye ranked first among Georgia’s foreign trade partners, with bilateral trade turnover amounting to $499.5 million, accounting for 14.2% of the country’s total trade turnover. China ranked second ($457.8 million), followed by Russia in third place ($418.4 million) and the United States in fourth ($237 million).

Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Georgia reached $214.4 million, placing Azerbaijan fifth among Georgia’s foreign trade partners.
