Azerbaijan, Thailand discuss bilateral ties
Baku, December 4 (AZERTAC). Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Valeh Alasgarov has today met members of the Thailand-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group.
Valeh Alasgarov briefed the delegation on Azerbaijan, saying the country is developing in all fields and has become the leader state of the region in a short period of time. He noted Azerbaijan turned into the investor country. The Deputy Speaker added Azerbaijan was one of the rapidly developing countries of the world for economic growth.
Alasgarov also spoke of the Azerbaijan-Thailand relations, saying the political-economic ties between the two countries had been developing successfully. He noted last year the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Thailand was near USD 1bln 500mln.
The Deputy Speaker noted there was great potential for expansion of bilateral bonds between the two countries in all spheres.
He also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noting as a result of the Armenian aggression about 20% of Azerbaijani territories were occupied and more than 1 million people became refugees and IDPs.
Head of the Thailand-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group Virun Punsen praised the ongoing development processes in Azerbaijan. He also hailed the hospitality of the Azerbaijani people.
