Baku, January 25 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan and UNESCO have signed an agreement to establish the Young Professionals' (YP) Program.
The deal was signed by Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov and UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova in Paris.
The agreement will create an opportunity for young Azerbaijani specialists to work at UNESCO Secretariat and gain international experience.
In a meeting prior to the signing ceremony, the Azerbaijani FM and the UNESCO Secretary General discussed prospects for deepening cooperation between the country and the organization.
Mr. Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan puts special emphasis on its relationship with UNESCO. He noted the framework agreement on cooperation signed last July had played an important role in strengthening these bonds.
Mrs. Bokova praised Azerbaijan`s support of UNESCO`s global mission.
The UNESCO Director General lauded efforts of Azerbaijan`s first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva to develop relations with the organization.
